Pin...Fire...

I can just imagine the "conversation"...

Chinese translator: Pin [makes action of removing pin from object]...fire...

Native English speaker: Hand grenade?

Chinese translator, incredibly happy with himself/herself, records translation as "hand grenade".



And just in case anyone thinks I'm discriminating, we native English speakers do it too. Take a look - poor Kimberly. Unfortunately, she got her name tattooed on her back in upside down Japanese characters.

You never know---there may be times when the hand grenade would be more appropriate than the fire extinguisher.
As for Kimberly, well, that's the chance you take when you. . . . .
